The U.S. Solid 1" 24V AC Normally Closed Solenoid Valve with a VITON gasket is designed for general outdoor and indoor use. Direction of the Flow

Most U.S. Solid valves are unidirectional, meaning they are designed to flow in one direction only. It is important to pay attention to the arrow on the valve to ensure proper installation. If connected in the opposite direction, the valve will not function correctly, especially for Normally Closed valves. Also, be sure to use filtered medium to prevent particles from clinging to the gasket over time, which can impact the sealing.

THREADING

U.S. Solid Valves follow National Standards for pipe thread. It is recommended to use Teflon tape to ensure a proper seal of the NPT threading. The tapered male and female thread form angled surfaces that, with increased torque, squeeze the Teflon tape resulting in a tight seal.

OVERHEATING

These valves should not be energized for more than 8 hours to prevent burning out the coils. If necessary to use them continuously for extended periods, a computer fan can be used to keep the coil cool.

POLARITY

For valves with 2 wires, they will actuate regardless of which terminal each wire is connected to. Some units include a ground wire that should be grounded if present.

GASOLINE and PRESSURE WARNING

NBR gaskets should not be used with gasoline, kerosene, or other petroleum products. Opt for a valve with a VITON gasket for contact with these substances. All solenoid valves need some pressure to actuate, especially pilot or indirectly operated valves.
